Shopping, Horror, and Flu

This weekend Me and Amanda went to the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield. It's Amandas birthday soon so we went to choose her a birthday present. I've been feeling a bit under the weather the past few days with a sore throat, but as the day went on I was feeling progressively worse. Although I did get my 2nd bargain of the year. Virgin Megastore were selling the 7 disk boxset of Nightmare on Elm Street for only 9.99. Naturally this flew off the shelf and into my hand. It would have been rude to leave it in the shop.

Well I know feel loads worse than yesterday, so looks like I wont be doing much except drinking hot drinks and feeling sorry for my self. Ho hum.

To Hull and Back

This weekend I went up to Hull to visit Mat, Clare and Max again. I got the train up straight up after work. I was a little worried that the trains wouldn't be running properly as the day before there was a lot of wind in Derbyshire that made the train companies cancel a lot of services. Luckily everything was running properly on friday. I got to Hull about 7.30 and Clare came and picked me up from the station.

Max strutting his funky stuff to the Ramones.

We didn't do much on friday night except chill out. Clare was out at a family party so Me, Mat and his friend Ben watched Phantasm 3 whilst drinking some strange indian ceylon tea that ben found under some floorboards. God knows why we thought it would be a good idea to drink them. The packets were sealed though :-)

Auditioning for the new Creature vocalist.

On Saturday we took Max to a place called the Deep. Basically a huge Aquarium, that has sharks and other such deap sea beasties. Was quite good fun, never been so close to a 5 foot shark before. After going to the Deep, Me and Mat nipped into the city center whilst clare took Max to Toys R Us. I went into Music Zone and found my bargain of the year so far. They were selling the box set of all 4 Phantasm films for only 7.97!!!!! The box set was only released last year. It must not be a huge seller. Oh well, who cares, means I get a bargain on what I think are an awesome set of horror films. Woohoo :-)

On Saturday evening after max had been put to bed, We ordered a load of Pizzas and watched another horror film. This time we watch Rob Zombies debut film, 'The House of a 1000 Corpses'. Bloody good film too. More of a homage to 70's style horror instead of the bollocks slasher horror pics made these days where it is just an excuse for some blonde bimbo to run about with her tits out. Not that I mind that though :-) Lots of blood, knives, crazy americans, and freaky undead mental patients. If your not squeamish then I recommend watching it. Infact even if you are sqeamish, watch it anyway you wimps, its only a film.

Like 2 peas in a pod.

Sid Meiers Pirates (PSP) out March 16th

One of the games I was involved with whilst working at Full Fat Productions is nearly out. The game is a port of Sid Meiers Pirates on the Sony PSP. The game has been ported from the Xbox and PC versions.

The game looks like it will be a lot of fun, and the team working on the game are all a very talented bunch, so support the UK games industry by going out and buying it :-)

I think graphicly the game is looking really nice. Getting what used to be an Xbox game and squashing it down onto such a small screen is quite a difficult job, especially as the PSP doesn't really have that much memory. So I think the team have done a great job. Hoorah!!!

Daisy Cutter EP Available for Sale

Been a hectic few months. When I released my Daisy Cutter EP in october I had some great feedback on it from around the world. I even had a small independent Italian label show interest in putting the release out. But when you read into the fine print I would have had to give away too many of my rights to the release. And considering I do electronic music for fun and not for a living this was something I was not prepared to do.

So instead I spoke to some of the contacts I had from when I worked in the games industry and set about sorting out my own distribution deal. Well after 2 months of preparation and paperwork, the' Daisy Cutter EP' has now been published under my own label name (Haunted House Records) catchy name eh :-).

You can get the release online from iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, eMusic, Sony Connect, Microsoft Zune, HMV Direct, Virgin, MTV Networks, Transworld Entertainment, Yahoo, CDigic, IMesh, Synacore, and Music Gremlin.

Seeing as I have the distribution channel setup, I have got some more releases in preparation which should be available by April. Firstly from Creature I have the Twilight EP, and Nightmares and Dreamscapes. And from Mats project 'Happy Welly' I have the album 'Irritable Vowel Syndrome'. So spread the word and buy them ;-)

You can read more about the releases, subscribe to the mailing list or RSS feed at http://www.hauntedhouserecords.co.uk

Beer Festival In Derby

On Thursday night Me and Neil went to the annual Derby CAMRA ‘Twelfth Night’ Winter Beer Festival. We got in there for about 6.30 and went straight to the main hall were the beers were. This festival is a lot smaller than the summer festival, but they still had 30 beers in the hall and about 30 beers in the reception area from around europe.

One beer we had which was very nice, but also one of the strongest beers you can get was from the continental collection. The beer was called Samichclaus from the Eggenberger brewary. This beer was 14% in strengh and was nicknamed 'Austrian Rocket Fuel'. The guy serving it also joked that it was the 2nd most dangerous export from Austria apart from Hitler.

The Samichlaus although very very strong didn't taste over powering of alchohol and was actually very drinkable, although I wouldn't recommend drinking too much of it. Luckily I had booked the Friday off work. I had a rotten hangover and was wiped out for most of the day, but apart from that the beer festival was great. Looking forward to the summer one now.
